Leon Adams, Jr. is Vice President and Underwriting Counsel in the Atlanta National Commercial Services unit. Previously, he was counsel for many years in the Real Estate Finance and Investment Group at Alston & Bird LLP, where his practice was focused on commercial real property title analysis, title insurance and foreclosure. As part of the very productive and experienced Atlanta NCS unit, Leon underwrites highly complex, commercial transactions of all kinds throughout the country.

All those years of legal and title experience in private practice helps me to understand the nature of the transactions we handle and the needs of our customers, and to work within company underwriting guidelines to accommodate those needs. I have a very good rapport with counsel by virtue of having worked successfully with so many of them for so long.

Leon received his J.D. degree, cum laude, in 1977 from the University of Georgia School of Law and his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, in 1974 from the University of Georgia. He is a member of the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia. He was a member for two terms of the Executive Committee and chairman of the Title Standards Revisions Committee of the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia. He has been a speaker at legal seminars on various aspects of real estate title examination and on his involvement in the 2007 timber sale transaction by the world’s largest paper company.
